I'm not much for American sportcars but this is an exception.

A friend of mine has one and uses it for vintage hill climbing .

These things are FAST.

I don't know how high this one will go....Maybe 30K???

SWEET...definitely got the Berkley beat in looks, performance and as you say probably easily $25,000
in price!

Of course the Berkley with it's 2 cyclinder can,
with todays petrol prices, finish the 24 hour
Lemans on about $10 bucks!!

Nice - was it inspired by the Elva
I don't think so....
There were a lot of people messing around with glass fiber back in the late 50s.

Bill Devin did seem to be rather fond of Brit & Italian cars though.

Hmmm! Corvair power...many of them were built with the old VW 1200/1500!! Probably THE original VW kit-car!

Yep....The "C" in Devin C is for Corvair.

A Devin D would have the punch-bug engine (for Deutschland)

Or was it a 356 engine???

I don't know my axis of evil cars very well. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Guess we'll not find out what it's worth...closed Reserve not met at $20k.........

Actually it closed at $28,100.00

I'm guessing that about 30K would be a fair price for one but...

This is the first one I have ever seen for sale that isn't a total resto.

I have a friend w/ rear molds /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nonod.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

I was offered the Devin before it was on Ebay for $35K

I thought that was pretty high, but I am not interested in Corvairs,
it is a real nice looking car and probably worth that to a corvair guy

the one unfinished Devin is not a Devin C or D , its a body on VW chassis ,

Wow....Thanks a lot!!

That makes me feel much relieved /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

I hate kicking myself /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

So what is the difference in the Devin D frame....It's not a pan?

a Devin D or C has a VW front suspension and square tubes to the rear suspension , the body is fiberglassed around the frame ,

there also is no front air grill,

the other one on ebay is one of the many sizes of bodies that were made to fit on a VW chassis , or any other chassis you wanted to use,....

These all had a front grill hole (Ok all I have seen)

clear as mud ?

Woops!...Can't believe I missed the grill /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

All in all the prices they are fetching are amazing to me as I remember looking at them as a teenager with a beetle and thinking about buying a kit (which seemed pretty reasonable at the time!) for my bug. Wish I had!!

let's not go there unless you have a case of brewsky's ready.....I think we all watch the Barrett Jackson auctions and say "If I only"!!!

You are so right Bibber!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif
