Desperately Need a Pair of Hood Stays for Bugeye

I knew when i bought my Bugeye that the hood stays that hold up hodd while working under it were missing. I figured i would just convert to front tilt. Now after looking at it closer, i find that all the front support box on the front of the bonnet are gone. It was probably hit in the front and they just removed it. So there is nothing to hold open the bonnet and it can not be converted. Right now i am just using a piece of wood, but all that would have to ahppen is it slips out while i am under it and i am going to loose my head. So if anyone that has conveerted to front tilt still has their hood stays and would be willing to sell them, PLEASE let me know.
Thanks
Mike

Mike,

On my BE Front end most of that was rusted out. I rebuilt, reinforced, and reengineered to make fit. A little time with a MIG and in my case time with pop rivet gun, angle iron, a saw, Dremel tool, and a drill and it bcame fully servicable.

The early '58 sprites did not have the box duct work. I made my own.

Well I let a friend know I was looking for the stays and he has the pair he removed for the front tilt conversion. I am picking them up tomorrow. I could weld in a new shroud box, but it would ruin the paint and it is just too nice to have it repainted at this point. On a possible note. I unexpectedly won a car on Ebay yesterday. It is a 65' Sunbeam Alpine. So the wife is giving me the word that one or the other has to go. Depending on the condition of the Alpine, I may decide to let the Bugeye go. If anyone is interested, let me know. It is a 59' with a 1098 and a rib case trans. It runs good and looks good, but needs a bit of love. I was planning on using it as a daily driver while slowly sprucing it up, but I can afford to do that with two cars, so one will have to go. The seats are useable, but need to be recovered. Dash has newer tach and speedo, but stock otherwise. I also have a set of front disc brakes for it as well. I have $5100 into it and would be willing to let it go for that or best offer. Body is straight. Contact me for more info.
