Denis Welch (DW) Cooling Fan for Austin Healeys

Do any Healey owners in UK have positive comments about Denis Welch cooling fan (red plastic made in Germany) Specifically, does it help cooling in summer "stop and start" city traffic? Here in Vancouver (Cda), I briefly used the Texas Cooler (six blade yellow plastic) but after two months, it shed two blades and knicked my radiator. Other cases reported of shedding blades and I have now found out it is now made in China (originally Texas). So, last Sept at Goodwood, I saw Welch fan on David Smithie's Healey. Roughly 1/4 X 1/4 inch on lower end of the five blades is knotched out (I think to make sure it clears water pump pulley in event of hitting rough bump). Before the defective Texas Cooler, I used a 16 blade metal fan that Warwick service manager Geoff Price sold me in 1972, saying it was what they used on Healeys exported to Swiss market. My car still ran hot in summer city traffic so have bought but not yet installed the Denis Welch fan. Have expanded radiator core which helped but car still runs hotter than when I had used the Texas Cooler before the two blades said "good bye"!! Is it necessary to knotch the blades on the DW fan for non-racing Healeys?

PS Have larger capacity radiator but I don't want to use an oil cooler nor electric fan.
