Del Mar Body, Triumph chasis

I have recently found sitting in a shed a LaDawri bodied Triumph TR-3 chassis Del Mar. It is in pretty rough shape, and at the current time, I can't get into the engine bay,or get a good look underneath the car to check out the frame. All I know is what I have said and that it has been sitting for at least the past 15 years. The following web link will take you to a picture of the car. LaDawri Del Mar Pictures

I was wondering if anyone on here had one of these cars or new anything about the value of them. All I was able to get out of the owner is that he is having an auction, but may not put this car up for auction as it is not worth the time to get it unburied from the shed. There is also a TR-3 sitting in pieces in the back of the shed which may go up for auction, but all I know about it is that the fenders and doors are in the passenger compartment and that it has an engine. I am hoping to make an offer for these cars and at least have the opportunity to restore them. I was unable to get pictures while I was there as I forgot my camera.

Welcome to the Forum.

In the link that you posted, it looks like a cross between an "I wanna be a Corvette" to something out of the movie "Cars".

Just out of curiosity, where in PA are you located? I grew up in western PA.

Hi there brownsgolf, :savewave:

"Welcome" to the "BCF" from the Pocono Mtns of PA. The world of "LBCs" (Little British Cars).

The red one looks like a concept Corvette & the silver one surely looks like a Porsche 550 Spider Reproduction.

Where the heck are the TR3s? :confuse: Where do you live in PA?

Regards,

Russ

Well, the TR3 is buried underneath of that fiberglass body. From what I have been able to find, it weighs about 1500 pounds. I am located about an hour north of Pittsburgh, right across the border from Youngstown, OH.

I vaguely recall, several years ago, a nice original (or possibly restored) La Dawri on eBay, with some serious money being asked for it. I don't recall the outcome of the auction. I doubt such a car would command the kind of money as would, say, a "time capsule" TR3A as is currently running on eBay, but it should do ok. Obviously, "pretty rough" might not be inexpensive to deal with, and any bits unique to the La Dawri part of the finished product might be nearly impossible to source if missing. :frown:
