Define minor rust and decent shape on Ebay...

I think he means minor areas with no rust, or minor rust in the holes where the metal used to be.

Well, the GT6+ bonnet doesn't look too bad; same with the Spitfire bonnet. As for the rest? Well.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

BTW, the year is wrong. The commission number plate shows a number that would correspond with an early Mk3 Spitfire, circa 1967 (maybe 1968-titled?)!

Looks like he meant to say Miner rust. Looks like the rust worm bored holes through and through.

Ya Know I just worry about something offered by someone that has a total of three feedbacks, as a buyer. Really worry about someone that is offering a high ticket item. Caveat Emptor is the rule on eBay. Do your due diligence and perhaps find some BCF member that can look at it for you.

Cheers, Tinkerman

I have come to believe that the verbalized condition of rust is geographical.

I bought my Standard Vanguard on Ebay. I had a guy from the St. Louis Triumph club look at it. He said it was "pretty rust free".

When it arrived in California, I noted paint blisters and rust on the door sills, and when we got it on the lift, there was a patina of rust on the whole underside.

I just there's a difference between California "pretty rust free" and Missouri "pretty rust free".

The rule is, go look at it yourself. But with this case, I guess you don't need to.

And another thing...

Sometime I think that some of these guys are selling to the uninitiated in vehicle restoration. I've seen several ebay offerings that bragged about how well the car ran despite the body damage or rust. Emphasize the positive! Don't let the poor sucker know that sheet metal is the most expensive part of restoring a car.

I think that he meant that he parked it next to
his Morris Minor,& it caught the rust from it!
