Datsun transmission shifter levers-

A couple of folks have asked me recently if I have any 5-speed transmission levers to sell (I don't) but when folks are looking for them just be wary-
The 210 shifter lever is the same for both 4 and 5 speed transmissions. The shifter for the B210 (5-speed is and I think that 4-speed is) longer at the tip by about 1/4" (from the pivot to the bottom) and will NOT fit the 210 transmission.
You want one that is 1.43" from the BOTTOM of the hole to the end of the ball, NOT the one that is 1.71"
I can post a picture of it if anyone needs it.

There an active datsun 210 thread over on the big healey site that I just added the following to - glad Billm kicked off this one so I can staple it on.

If anyone has extra shift levers, consider sending them on to Rivergate.
I just ordered (from a local Nissan dealer) the parts needed to mount the lever to our trans: the shift knob is no longer available but everything else seems to be:
32849-H7301 pin to affix lever to transmission - coming from Japan - $ 9.90
32849-H1010 pin (hopefully this is the bushing that fits into each side of the lever and that the pin goes through to hold it in place) - in Canada - $ 5.59 each; need two
32861-H7301 bushing (hopefully this is the plastic 'cup' that fits on the bottom of the shift lever and fits into the trans. in Canada - $ 2.65

Levers are still available from Japan: for $ 88.

"If anyone has extra shift levers, consider sending them on to Rivergate."

Why, so "THEY" can sell them?

If they are that rare, I'd at least want a speedometer gear drive in trade

Well, basically, yes.
I lucked out when I needed two as Rivergate had received some. And kindly note that I asked that people consider it; keep them if you want, monitor this forum, I guess, as an alternative, but please don't throw them out.
Doug

Yes, keep them and don't throw them out.

But giving them to Will so he can sell them? I guess when Will starts giving away his stuff. Not going to happen, nor is it expected.

Now giving one to a fellow Spridget owner who needs it for his car - that's totally different.

Rick,

That is the point I was trying to make.

By all means DO NOT throw these rare parts away. Giving them to R'gate to sell makes little sense, however in the spirit of Frank Clarisi, giving them to a fellow Spidgeteer in need is "paying it forward"...a good and noble thing

Doug,
How much did R'gate charge you for these "donated' shifters?

I am one of those who asked Bill if he had a 210 shift lever. I have a 5-speed tranny but have not been able to find a lever. If anyone can help, please let me know.
Jim

Jim.
I'll keep an eye out for you.
Have you tried one of the foreign car yards near Sanford? Ther is also supposed to be a big yard ouside of Atlanta

Anyone have a 90 deg. angle speedo drive? Lol

Jim,
I'd love to see your bug eye project. Maybe next time I'm in Orlando, I'll give you a shout

the plastic bushings that fit in from both sides of the shift lever and secure it to the pin that mounts the whole thing to the tranny aren't available from Nissan, but Rivergate has them (plus the plastic 'cup' that the bottom of the lever fits into) available.
Now that I've got them, I get to clean out my amateur hour attempt at filling the gap with JB weld...

Doug

I got my bushings, shift lever boot, and cup from my local Nissan dealer, but he did have to order them. The part numbers are:
Shift lever boot 32862-H7300 $5.36
Bush 32855-H1010 5 per pac
Bush-control LE (cup) 32861-H7301 2 per pac

IIRC, the total cost for everything was in the $12-15 range.
HTH, Rut

Apparently a lot of variation in Nissan dealers. The ones I deal with can't (or will not) find any of these older parts!

Kurt.

The guys at Rivergate sell the plastic bits for the shifter.
