Tomorrow I will be picking up another 5-speed Datsun "60" transmission from a 1980 210 wagon with just over 100K miles. It is in great shape and includes the throw out bearing assembly as well as the shifter arm.

Price is $425 shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states (Fed Ex ground).

LMK if you're interested!

Tempting....

I've got one on my shelf, waiting for an install some day.

I would be interested in a partial trade for a nice 3.9 or 3.7 differential. I sprung a leak on mine last week at the tail end of a 2700 mile road trip to California and ran it dry.....it "sings" to me in a higher octave now!

Bump.....get this before I decide to put it in my Bugeye (my 3rd gear synchro grinds)!!

I can go as low as $400 shipped to the lower 48 states.

I have a 3.9 I purchased off ebay still in the box. How much trade in value?

That depends.....who is the eBay vendor? When did you buy it? If it was recently, what was the eBay item # (so I can see the ad, etc.). Any pictures? What condition is it in? LMK.

I checked "my ebay" and history only goes back a short time. I purchased over a year ago so no help there. I have one 5 spd but thought I might need one for extra for parts. I understand parts are hard to get for them ?

Spare parts are always a good idea and these 5-speeds are getting harder to find. To be honest, I am leaning towards putting this one in my Bugeye. The one in it now works well, but grinds 2nd & 3rd if I don't rev match while downshifting. If all you're looking for is a parts tranny, I could sell you that one on the cheap. Something to think about.

As for the 3.9 diff.....if you could take a picture or two that would be great. I am looking at several right now in the $100 range, so that is sort of my price cap. I could do an even swap for my old tranny, if you're interested (assuming this new one doesn't grind either).

I can get you the flywheel from an A14 engine....I believe they are the same, unless the 1200 ones are somehow different. price would be $30 + shipping.

I do have a GX head, but it's happily perched atop my A15.

LMK.

Boy, 210 tranny prices are up. I bought one 4 months ago for forty bucks.

I might be interested in the grinding parts tranny.

$40 is a pretty good deal.....I wish I could find one that cheap! The junkyards all want $100-$200 (+ tax & usually a core charge too)for their trannys and you still have to pull it out yourself.

I'll give you $50 for yours! Instant 25% profit!!

If mightmidget passes on my "old" one then we can talk.

Did you buy that 210 that was on craigslist?

Me? Nope....I just found one in a junkyard.

I didn't know about the lighter flywheel thing in the 1200's. I will keep my eyes open for one.....I usually don't give the early 210's much of a look because they don't have 5-speeds.

Mightymidget, if it sounds like I keep waffling about the tranny, I am. I really want to fix my Bugeye, but at the same time I can't afford not to sell it. If you, or anyone else, wants the trans then I will sell it. If I don't sell it by Saturday Nov. 13th then I will install it in my Bugeye.

LMK if you are still interested. I just need to clean it up a bit and box it up, otherwise it is ready to go.

I've got the solution to both your problems. Send both the tranny and cash to me and you won't have anything to worry about anymore.

My problem is, put the trans in I have or use that money to buy an extra one. Things are tight here too.

What a great solution! What's your address??

Money is tight everywhere.....I know. I really couldn't afford to buy this thing myself, but I couldn't bring myself to let it get crushed either. Moral dilemma, I guess. Plus my Bugeye really does need a new transmission. My only problem is once I pull the engine/trans out I'll find all sorts of other things that need "fixing" and I'll be knee deep into a full rebuild if I'm not careful. Maybe it's best to keep the grinding tranny installed afterall!

There's a few people over on the MGexperience that are looking for transmission.
