Gopro's are great, beautiful videos. However they don't record a loop when they get to the end of the sd card. I believe you need to manually turn them on and off?
Maybe I should clarify.
I'm looking into HD dashcams that mount on the windshield.
Usually they're so small they mount behind the rear view mirror.
They can be hardwired or plugged into the cigarette lighter.
They record when you turn the car on, stop when the car is turned off.
They record on a continuous loop when it gets to the end of what ever length mico sd card you install. Purpose is in case you're in an accident.
Some of the top tier models record in HD (better than the gopro's) (see example of specs I provide in previous post here) and you can transfer the video via wi-fi or the sd card to your computer.
So those days when you'd think, that was a great drive, you've got it recorded.
