Dashboard Warning Lights

On my BT7 there is a single green warning light in the middle of the dashboard to confirm that the indicators are working.

Anyhow, I would like to add in another couple of lights either side
- amber for oil pressure warning and
- blue for fog lights.

The question is where can I get the required lights in a similar style to the original?

I believe that TR4's had both a green and red dash warning light in the same style, but so far I have been unable to track down an amber or blue .... any idea's

Lucas WL3's would be a potential solution, but I would prefer to keep to the original style if at all possible.

Agreed. Indeed S-V-C have some "own brand" dash lights which use the same hole size and similar bezel, (which is my fall back position). However if I could source some exactly the same as the original green one, that would be my preferred route.

Hi BBH -

I have added warning lights to the dashboard of my BN2 for low oil pressure warning (red), and also an amber light to indicate that my driving lights are on. I found that the following light assemblies for Triumph TR2, 3, and, I think early TR4, match the style of the green turn indicator warning light on the BN2 dashboard, which I believe is the same as on your BT7. I found them at Moss Motors. They are Part Nos. 542-190 and 542-195 for Red and Amber, respectively. You'll also need get the sockets and bulbs which are Part Nos. 142-710 and 171-000. As for blue, I don't think I've ever seen one in the same style. I think that the MG TF used a blue light to indicate low fuel, but I believe that it's a different style light.

Anyway, I hope that this might help you.

Good Luck!

Bill

Bill,

Many thanks, just the info I was looking for. I suspect that the hunt for a blue light will be fruitless and I may have to follow your lead and use a red and amber (as well as the green indicator light).

my car is a v8 conversion so not original but, it is a very nicw car. im in the process of redoing the dash and saw this topic. thanks for posting and thanks for the info from bn2 guy. i just ordered the tr amber and red lights from moss. there is a bn7 currently on ebay with those lights. ill post a pic. thanks again

i recovered my dash and added the warning lamps from moss motors. my car is a v8 conversion so i updated the gauges as well...

thanks rick. time consuming to say the least. also wiring in a six circuit fuse block located behind the dash for some added electrical safety. the speedhut gauges and harness are really a hotrodders dream!!!
