Dash wiring question

Greetings,
I have a quick question for the group regarding the wiring harness for my BT7. It’s a new harness I purchased from Moss several months ago and have not had any issues with it until now that I am working on the dash wiring. Since I did not take the dash apart I have been relying on diagrams from a few books and internet resources. The harness only has (2) red/white gauge light leads with bulb connectors on them. From the diagrams I am looking at there should be four (oil/water, speedo, tach and fuel). I realize I could easily make my own additional gauge lights, but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something.

HI PR169, Yes there should be a lamp for each guage.A simple fix might be to cut one of the existing red/white wires solder on a couple of bullets then add a triple connector to that circuit which will allow you to add the additional ones in the spare connector barrels.---Fwiw---Keoke

Good plan Keoke, they must all come together somewhere anyway as they are either all on or all off( unless a bulb has gone. ) If a professional had looked under my dash when I first had the car they would have a heart attack, I have removed all the rubbish connections, installed bullets and generally sorted the system so that it now functions properly.

Thanks Bob, I used this method when I added interior lights and a chubby box light to my car. no hidden switches etc.----Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif

Hi PR169, I agree, there should be four light bulbs sockets for the gauge lights. according to my schmatic drawings there appears to be a four-way bullet connector between the panel lamp switch (#13 in my drawing) and the fuel, oil, and speedo lamps. Possibly two other leads from this connector on your harness are missing. The bulb for the tach is fed directly from the terminal on the panel lamp switch. I haven't looked under my dash to see if that connector is really there, but the drawing shows it. I will check my harness tomorrow if you want me to confirm it. My harness is original.(BJ7)

vette,
I ended up splicing the two supplied (gauge light) wires coming from the toggle switch under the dash - no biggie. Thanks again for all your suggestions. Did the very early BT7's have a similar wiring scheme to the BN4's?
