Dash Support Question

Well, I've been gutting the Crypt Car's insides in
preparation of Paul's arrival to change out the
clutch. Can anyone believe I am still uncovering
miles of speaker wires? BLUUUFFF!

It appeared to me the dash support unit would have
to come out in order to remove the transmission.
So I took it out. It was ratty looking anyway.

I started to take it apart to refurbish it and found
some interestings markings. "TR5-SCK " was written
on the underside of the foam liner. Also I found 3 holes
punched in the steel housing that are not visible from
the drivers side. Covered over with fake leather.

The big hole for the radio and 2 knob holes are obvious.
Does anyone know what the other 3 holes were used for?

And any suggestions on how to refurbish this dash support beast?

regards,

dale

On my TR4A those three holes are for the heater fan knob, the heter temperature knob and the heater deflector know (to pick between winshield vents or face vents). I think as far as refurbashing goes, there are new cavers available for the aluminium part, but I have not found a source for the aluminium part. My aluminium is in poor shape so if anyone knows a way to fix it I would love to hear it.

TRF now sells completely new aluminum center dash supports. They also sell the recover kit for your old ones. They ain't cheap but the new ones are beautes. (for the TR6, that is)

Dale, as bad as Wendy wants to crush the Crypt car at times, my wife would be crushing me if I took time to go work on another car. We're leaving for our first vacation in over a year on Thursday and if I even mention the word Triumph, I'm in deep do-do.

So sorry to say, I will have to pass on this offer, as tempting as it is, but I'll be thinking of you.

I do offer the pictures on my site as a helper for you though....https://www.74tr6.com/clutchreplacement.htm

Good luck, my friend....
