Dash replacement

My 1970 GT6 Plus came with a new dash cover and the old one has a foam like substance under it. Does this all need to come off and the cover glued back on. Is it better to replace wood facia at this time?

Get out your scraper, there is some glue under the foam, the good news is that its usually shot, and doest give much of a fight. If you want to save $$ consider re-doing the veneer on your dash, not as big a job as it might sound, and quite worth while by all accounts.

Thanks for the reply MD,is there something similar to the foam that goes under the plastic cover other than glue or silicon?

Thanks, great advice, my wife loves to do things like that so I will give her that project. I am still not sure what to put under the top dash cover when I scrape all the foam off. Would the foil heat shield work?
