The bezels aren't threaded, but I believe you do rotate the bezels to get the holding tabs to align with the slots on the gauge case and they will then come right off.

O-rings could help in the future, but when you clean everything make sure you let everything dry before reassembly. It sounds like you have some trapped moisture in the gauges.

One thing I learned this summer when I redid the instrument panel on my 1959 TR - the bezels twist off *after* you've loosened the gauge bracket on the back of the panel. If that gauge bracket is still tight, you'll have "issues" with trying to remove the bezel on the front.

By the way, when I pulled off the bezel and glass, then washed the glass in ammonia water, I never had any more "fog" problems on the glass.

Along the same lines, keep in mind that the paint used for the numbers & pointers IS water soluble. Just a drop of water might not hurt, but if you touch it while it's wet, it will smear.

At least that's what I found on my gauges, both TR3A and Stag.

Was that just a 50/50 mix of sorts or something special?
