Dash Panel Covers

In the restoration of an early 70's Midget, has any one installed one of the complete Dash panels? If so how did it look when complete? Who's did you buy and how hard was it to get it to stick to the metal backing plate?

I am attempting to research the Moss one.

Carl H, used one on the Classic Motorsports(magazine) midget. It looked fine, but I do not know how difficult it was. Many of us just use the partial dash cap. It looks fine and isn't noticeable unless you look for it.

Trevor - did you use the glue that came with it? or contact cement? - any tips?

I popped it on to check for fit, then I decided that I'd let it sit in the sun to sort of take shape and glue it the next day. Four years later and I still have not glued it. But... I'm not a perfectionist and my car is not a show car.

I use two which I interchange, and am happy with them both.
Mine had a split, so I bought one, then used sticky velcro to hold down my tonneau thus messing it up, but getting a good result tonneau wise.
I got a second one when it goes to car shows or the tonneau isn't needed.
I haven't used any glue to hold them down, they just kind of stay in place.

HeHe ... me need COFFEE!

I haven't done one on a Spridget, (yet), but I've done a "B". Make sure everything is clean on the dash backing plate. I used acetone to prep it. I installed it using Weldwood contact cement. It was kind of a PITA the first time, but when I do the '74 Midget, I may use two sided foam tape instead of the glue. I've got some fairly aggressive tape that I think will work well.
The Midget covers have been unavailable for quite awhile. Thanks for letting me know that they're back. The main thing wrong with the '74 I had given to me awhile ago is the terrible condition of the dash cover. Well, the engine is locked up, but that's nothing. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
