Dash Pad

The usual suspect offers a dash pad for the BJ7 in black only. Did they come from the factory with only black dash pads?

I need a new one also. I had planned to get enough extra interior material to recover the dash pad.

I did it this way because I had to redo the arm rests, dash pad and tunnel mounted arm rest.

I bought a dash pad that matched the blue interior of my BT7 from Healey Surgeons. I would suspect there are other vendors that can supply colors other than black as well.

Yes it is odd that Moss will sell pads for the side curtain models in any color, but the BJ7 is only available in black. I found that suspect as well and it raised the same question with me.

Speaking of BJ7 dashpads (the upper dashpad), can anyone share their experience with what is the correct or best way to fasten the padded dashpad to the metal structure underneath? The bottom of the dashpad is made of thin plywood. The plywood is too thin to run screws up from below, and only having the two rear view mirror mounting screws holding it in place seems inadequate. Contact cement?? Or?? Final fastening of the dash pad remains one of the very few things left to do on this BJ7.

Mine (62 BT7) is held down by two screws (one on either end), three tonneau fasteners, and by the mirror. The head of the screws is on top of the pad with decorative washer.
