Dash Lights - the Good Lucas Fairy has visited!!

I mentioned this in the Lucas thread over in "MG".

This morning for the first time since I have owned Frank the dash lights came on when I turned the headlights on.
At first I thought "what's that weird glow coming from my heater / defrost control". Then I noticed the lights on the instruments. They even got brighter / dimmer with the rheostat!

The only change I've made in the past week is to put in a new pair of rubber floormats (they say "MIDGET" on them) and a new shiny MG grille badge.

I know our little cars like to be treated right, but I was still surprised to be presented with working dash lights from the good Lucas fairy.

I'll bet most of us here didn't even know there was a good Lucas fairy. We have so much experience with that other guy... little red suit, long tail, pitchfork Lucas.

Well, today was my morning to receive that little "thank you" gift from the good Lucas fairy. It may be gone at lunch, but I know it was there this morning.

Anytime spent under the dash to fix something leds to one more issue to be resolved. Does it ever end?
 
Those aren't your dash lights. There is an electrical fire under your dash.
 
Is it tough to taek the dash apart and reassemble? AHlf the stuff on my dash is kaboshed!
 
Do those newer cars have that little slide switch at the bottom edge of the dash under the wheel like the older cars? I'm wondering (if it is there!) if they worked all along and you just bumped the switch while working under there!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
 
How many bugeyes have the dash light switch, I've had mine about 25 yrs, and just added this neccesary item.
 
They all have this switch, came from the factory with em.
 
I can't find one on Frank.
