Dash light sockets

I've got the dash wires all disconnected now, with the exception of the wires that go to the various light sockets. I'm assuming that these will all have to be disconnected as well before I redo the wires. Should I try to undo the connections (some are soldered) or should I snip the wires and plan to use some sort of inline bullet connectors to hook them to the new (not yet ordered) harness?

They ~should~ have bullets to connect 'em up, make sure you get some and the GOOD crimp tool, too... I still solder mine, but I've taken some flak from the electronics engineering types lately: they all tell me properly done crimps are BETTER that a solder joint. When I have a solder'd bullet fall apart I'll consider changing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Get enough Lucar connetors to do the car, and a few more as spares.
 
On later model cars, the sockets pull out of the gauge housings, and they are a little subharness all to themselves. I have no idea about a bugeye.
