Darn Things Follow Me Home.

Just got off the phone with a friend and fellow racer, who asked me if I wanted a free '67 Sprite. The car's from Alabama, has minimal rust, and no engine/tranny. Hmmmm. Let me do the maths on this one. I've got a couple of 1275's with ribcases attached lying around, and I think one of them is from a '67.
Should I give this poor orphan a home?
Jeff

awww...c'mon you can ask harder question than that /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif....The answer is obviously a no - Brainer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think you should get it, fix it up, and give it to me.

Well, you asked...

Just send the 1275 and tranny down this way.

I also am looking for a buildable 1275 w/ribcage for a widowed friend. He wants to put it in a Morris Minor.

Lucky! But since I'm into the rubber bumpers, I'm not too jealous.

BTW, I posted this in classifieds, but I'll mention it here too. I'm looking for a spare 1500 within a day's drive of Michigan.

Brian, you might try posting over in the Triumph section, as the later Spit used the 1500 too. I got rid of my 1500 stuff when I sold the Spit racecar.

Jeff has the world surplus of 1275's and trannys eh?
Name your price, I'm desperate.

I've a disassembled 1500 engine - ready to go back together...but I'm in north Alabama.

No, Barry, I don't have a surplus of 1275's and ribcases. I think I'm down to only two spares that run, and two that don't.... Yet. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
They shouldn't be hard to find. I think I only paid $225 for the last one I bought. It runs great, and came with a trans. That's been awhile ago, but I'm sure they're out there.
Jeff

No one ever offers me free Sprites, lucky you!

I have one. still in the car has not run for awhile, but was tould it was good. Pittsburgh, Pa

Thanks Taz. I'll keep in in mind. Right now, I have emails out to Team Triumph & TS Imported Auto in Ohio to see if they have one since they're closer. The nice people in the Triumph forum gave me those leads.

Well, I went and looked at it, and it isn't worth picking up. There are a few, (very few) usable parts left. I grabbed the downflow radiator, and will go back for the original radio center console complete with the BMC AM radio. Other than some odds and ends, that's about all there is worth getting.
Oh well, maybe the next one will be a keeper. The last freebie was a complete '74, about three years ago. Top and interior shot, but very solid, including the usual rust points. A few dings, but not bad, considering the price. I haven't done anything with that one yet, either. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
