I know it is swollen but doesn't the replacement rubber look skinnier than the original?
 
The new methods don't use rubber any more. It's a different chemical boding agent that has similar properties for the dampening affect, but less chance of issues with oil, etc.

I'm not an expert, just passing along what Ron at DD explained to me when I called him about doing mine.

Every new damper that I ever saw (with old damper material) were flush when they were made.

Looks like they do nice work. Could you give me an idea of the turn around time & price. Any warranty ?
 
They did turn it around in less than 48 hours from time of receipt. The problem was (well, it really wasn't since I'm not in a rush) that UPS Ground takes a week back and forth, so it took two weeks, but no fault of theirs.

Price was $107 + $15 shipping, which I thought was very fair for both.

Did you consider my email thoughts about cams?

The part I got back does not look nearly as nice as
yours. Wonder what happened?

I don't know why they would be different. All I asked Ron was if he could paint it red instead of matte black and if they could lay in the white paint for the numbers. Maybe it's just the shiny red paint?
 
Well I'm jealous! I just had my damper off when I replaced the timing cover gasket and front oil seal and thought about having it done but............all winter it's been $100 here, $300 dollars there, $1800 to Herman for the 5 speed conversion, $500 to Richard Good for the Diff conversion. It's been a money pit winter! The good news is that I have Rick Pattons' Fan Eliminator kit so removing the damper is a simple one bolt operation. Maybe next year.

But that looks SWEET!

I must admit that Rich's shiny polished fan eliminator looks very nice against the red background of the damper.

They will both look nice reflecting off of the chrome timing cover as well.

End of bling..............

And I'm not even going to start to add up the slips that are arriving daily. Tomorrow, the cam, pistons and engine parts arrive and they go for balancing to the machine shop on Sat.
