Here's one for Daimler purists!

Steve Sanett's 1962 Daimler SP250 with aluminum Chevy 427 V8 (11 photos, etc.)

Beautiful job. I can see why it took so long and why it was so expensive...well, he didn't mention how much it cost, but I don;t even want to hazard a guess.

I looked through all of the pics linked to, and surprisingly didn't see a front view pic. The front of the SP250 I always felt needed to be redone, and this guy said he reshaped the grille. I would have liked to see that. The widened fenders make the car look a whole lot better. Quite a job he did.

I'm too much a purist to want it, but have to admire the dedication to building it. Would like to see the front also, and some performance figures and corner weight numbers. With all the changes to my 1059 car during this ongoing resto, it is only a matter of degree; the car is original or it isn't. While the engine & body will be, the rest won't. So mine is no different than his...modified.

Beautiful car that.

Some fine workmanship on display there... but I find the "Daimler" valve covers a little incongruous....

:iagree: unless one REALLY enjoys watching the valve-train at work!!

Quality work but there are some cars that should be left orinigal.

And what's with the 16 switches on the dash?

You're apparently assuming the car was "original" when he started. Would you say the same thing if the original engine were missing when he bought the car?

It's eight toggle switches, and to the right of them you're looking at eight "Mil. Std." circuit breakers.
