Looks like Jaguar is re-introducing the Daimler brand name to the world again, the "Super Eight" saloon car.

(plus many more links if you search for Daimler Super Eight)

And this one will be coming over to North America /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif The previous Daimler's (badge-engineered versions) weren't sold here...

Hmmm... Looks a lot like the current Jag. Don't know if that will sell.

Didn't Buick have a "Super Eight"? Wonder if that was copyrighted, and if it will be badged that way here...

Hi, Alec -

Yes, it is. Oldsmobile went away, sad to say, but Buick is holding on. There have been rumors of another cut in GM's line, and it remains to be seen whether Buick will leave us.

There were Buick Super Eights back in the forties and fifties. Here's one I found:

There may have been other marques who used the name - not sure on that.

I'm a bit dissapointed that they've done another badge-engineered Daimler. I'm sure Ford said a few years ago that if they did another they'd make sure it looked different to Jaguars. Oh well, I suppose times are tough in the motor industry and they couldn't afford to do a "proper" Daimler.

As you say, it's just a Jag with a Daimler badge.
Iteresting the annoncement starts Halewood, England. errr, <Whisper> that's the Ford factory!</whisper>
