I may be grasping at straws here. If you recall from my earlier
posts, the Tranny light is on in my 94 XJSV12. For some reaon, my
ROM does not have the correct wiring diagram for my car. Checking
out wiring, I found something that looks like a relay, but longer,
by the gear shift. It is labeled DAC10736. My ROM calls it a
control module. What is it for, and how can I test it?

Maynard. Sorry for the delay in my response. I have researched the calibration procedure for the 12 cylinder models and it is not as precisely stated as for the 6 cylinders. Since I think you understand the wiring coding of the throttle pot leads, I will not repeat it. If there is any question about it let me know and I will give you complete answers. The throttle pot procedure for calibration as I state it is much the same as for the 6 cylinder models. With the thottle pot installed and with the ignition switch on, rotate the pot until the signal voltage on the transmission side is measured at .5 volts (.4 to .6). At that position clamp the pot down with the setting screws. Use some cheater wires at the pot harness connector to obtain this reading. As a footnote, almost all of my transmission limp home lights were corrected by new throttle pots with that calibration procedure. The down side is that I have never seen a 12 cylinder model have the limp home mode. The mode was added to the 12 cylinder models some time in 1992. There are three fault codes for the fuel injection side of the pot that are used in the 12 cylinder OBD1 faults. The small box that you refer to is what 6 cylinder literature calls the transmission decoder module and is located along side of the shifter assembly. I did not check this against the part number that you got from your car. I have had one instance of a faulty decoder module cause the limp home mode. Hope this helps, Jack
