Thats good advice. I do have a thread tool that I bought from the last time i screwed up.Chase it out with a plug thread tool( OTC the autoparts store) .Lesson learned......

You're lucky the threads in the block and plug were still OK. Sometimes the plug can get cross threaded and strip when tightening it in again. I suspect the threads in the block, being of a harder metal, will often straighten out the softer plug metal......but not always.Had a service done at a Jifi Lub years ago on our Chevy Impala. Went out to dinner with friends and when we were leaving standing by the car with it running I could hear a chuffing sound. At home in the garage I found the center plug on the front bank was threaded in at an angle and only a couple of threads held it. With a long extension on the plug socket I got it threaded in straight with no damage to the plug or head.
Back plug I could understand but right in front???
