I got this off of the Racing History List on Yahoo. The emphasis is American, but I did see one Triumph Herald while watching (I think). Can anyone find other Brits in the photos?

brooklands, my grandmothers nephew burried his triumph tr3 amongst other valuables on the island before he left cuba, even once showed me a map, tony barnhill says as soon as he can legally get there hes gunna buy up every one of them cars. :yesnod: i just want the yellow chevy convertible.
 
You can get there legally..sort of..if you go and return through Canada, or so I understand....?

Alas, that's not permitted. Under the Cuban Embargo Regulations overseen by the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, it is generally impermissible (subject to certain very limited exceptions) for Americans to travel to Cuba. In other words, the regulations make it illegal for Americans to *go* to Cuba, regardless of how you go. If you enter the United States and immigration sees a Cuban stamp on your passport, you will be in trouble. How much trouble depends on the totality of the circumstances, and how grumpy OFAC is feeling about Cuba at the moment.

Also, OFAC takes infractions of the Cuban embargo quite seriously. In 2007, the GAO found that almost 70% of OFAC's enforcement actions were focused on violations of the Cuba rules. Doesn't seem like a big deal until one realizes that OFAC also oversees our embargoes against North Korea, Syria, Sudan and Iran and is also in charge of blocking financial transactions with terrorist groups and drug cartels. Simply put, they take it *very* seriously.

So, be warned if you plan on going on a car hunting trip to Cuba!

I've always wanted to travel to Cuba, and I can legally as a Canadian... The old cars and Cuba have always been a great photographic subject that has been well documented

I know many people here who visit there and get away from the resorts, there is an informal system of <span style="font-style: italic">bed & breakfast's</span>, foreigners aren't officially allowed to stay with Cubans as I understand it, but if you talk to the right person in Havana they will hook you up and it is supposed to be the best way to really experience the country.

And I've also been told that the music of Cuba is fabulous to explore, for those musically inclined.
