MGB Crossmember Rubiks Cube?

Finally - after almost a decade of things going wrong - I massaged the engine/transmission combo into the MGB body shell yesterday and the actually sliding it in went suspiciously too smoothly. The front motor mount blocks lined up and all the bolts went in with just a little jiggling side to side, and the back of the transmission landed on some folded carboard resting on the body crosssmember. Now comes the ??????? part...there is seemingly a close to infinite number of ways to assemble the transmission crossmember - its not completely symetrical so if you turn it one way the holes are in a slightly different position than the other, likewise there are 2 options fir where the rubber blocks go, and then there is that whole weird "Y" shaped thing in the middle with the rubber bushings that has 4 possible combinations of position.

I spent 3x as long as sliding the engine in trying to make this work, and the transmission is still sitting on the cardboard cushioned body crossmember. Is there some way to decode this thing or do I just have to try every possible combination of every peice until I stumble on the magic winning alignment.
