Cross Reference Source

I am restoring a 63 Herald and understand that a number of parts used on it may also been used on early Spitfires and perhaps even TR3s and 4s. If so, is there a parts cross reference source available? Thanks.

Don't have one handy to check, but I believe there is an "Also used on models" column in the numerical index of the factory Spare Parts Catalogue.

You can accomplish somewhat the same thing by looking the Stanpart number (from the SPC or Canley Classics, etc.) up on TRF's website. If it's the same as one of the models TRF covers, they'll have it listed.

Very few parts in common with the TR3/4, but more overlap with Spitfires I believe.

Lots of mechanical overlap with early Spitfires, and a fair amount of hydraulic and electric overlap as well. Someday, if I ever get a good OCR scanner, a bunch of time and initiative, I hope to put together some cross-references. But Randall's right: all the Standard-Triumph SPC's of that era had those "Also used on models" indices, and they're very handy, at least for Stanpart numbers.

IF I ever got REALLY ambitious, I'd further cross-reference to Lucas and Girling numbers....

Meanwhile, feel free to PM me, ask me through the Forum here, or send me an e-mail, and I'll help you c-r anything you want.

TRF website?
Just go to https://secure.zeni.net/trf/ and enter the Stanpart number in the box on the left. If you get a match, there should be a code in the 'Description' box that gives a list of applicable vehicles. Eg, "S13" implies the part fits at least some Spitfire Mk 1, 2 & 3.
