Usually I see snakes warming themselves on the paved bike trail. Lately I’ve been lucky. Last week I saw this turtle and today this winged guy landed next to me.

saw a huge turtle on the sidewalk as we were going to church a week ago. Not sure where the turtle was going

This is the time of year when turtles head to their nests (or back from them) to lay eggs. If you ever see one in the middle of the road, try to move it to the side of the road which it was heading. Here in Maryland, we have some huge snapping turtles that have very sharp claws, too. Trying to move them out of traffic can be a challenge. One passerby was trying to use a stick, and the turtle turned around and snapped the stick right in half.

I wasn’t getting too close.
