Crimped in U-joints?

Anyone who has dealt with the Datsun transmission has probably come up against this.
The Datsun driveline came with crimped in u-joints.
I have two drivelines now that both need new u-joints and both have the crimped in kind.
Does anyone have experience with this and advice about how to get these fixed?
I would like to get them changed to replaceable type u-joints if possible.
My plan is to call Drivelines NW tomorrow morning and see what they say.

I called Drivelines NW and they can fix up my shafts with new joints.
They will use the Rockford 430-9 u-joints and charge me $25 each plus parts so $100 per drive shaft.
The new ones are grease-able and I think after having them do it the first time I'll be able to swap in new ones in the future - however paying them $25 to put in a u-joint doesn't bother me.
The shaft for my Midget has a Datsun yoke in front and a MG flange in the back, but I'll have them fix it too so I have a good spare - or a good one for my next car

It sounds like this will be money well spent. I have replaced U-joints on several British cars and even with the clips, it never goes as smooth or easy as the service manuals suggest.

Drive line work is so inexpensive that it just doesn't make sense to me to try to do it myself. I had a bad end on two of them so I took them to the local shop. He made thw two into one good one, balanced it, and installed the u-joints for $80. .. Peanuts.

I'll get more info when I drop them off today.
Seems this U-joint has a groove that a clip is placed on inside the yoke so the caps can't go out.

Yeah but they still gotta be machined for the clip to clear. Otherwise they wont go on. My 280z was like that.
