It's really quiet around here.... I know there's a lot going on in preparation for the 2014 race season. Let's hear some noise!

Michael, I saw you were at Sebring, how about an update?

Hi Dougie--

I took the MK IV down and ran in a very mixed group which included two older Corvettes, a very fast Aston Martin DB4, a very slow Costin Jaguar, a Lotus 7 and an MGA. SVRA's emphasis upon bigger/newer cars seems to be working to the detriment of small/medium bore cars, which were once its bread and butter.

In any case I ran fairly well on Friday and got a good start on Saturday's Race I but about four laps into it one of the rear halfshafts came apart and I had to retire. Repairs are almost complete and I will be running the IV at the VDCA Wild Hare event at VIR in about 10 days.

BTW over last season I replaced the IV's 1220 FWE engine to a 1460 FWB. Unfortunately the cylinder head does not reflect the latest innovations and I am down about 15-20 HP from a friend's FWB-powered Lola MK I and as a result he was able to leave me in his dust at last Thanksgiving's Turkey Bowl. I am trying to get ahold of one of these reconfigured heads from the UK but things are slow in coming.

BTW sorry I did not reply to your request earlier--I have not been monitoring the forum as religiously as I should.

Michael -

Nice to get an update, I always enjoy seeing pictures of you running the Elva's in the race mags. The motors out of my 100-SIX racer for a full freshening. It will be really close for me to make the first SOVREN event in Seattle next month.

I'm ready for the first SCCA MARRS race of the season, 11-12 April @ Summit Point WVa. So far looks to be only two of us in the Spridget contingent. I worked on the car every single weekend since October (full motor refresh, much rear suspension work, roll cage mods, brake rebuild all around, too many detail jobs to mention) so I am ready to get it on the trailer. Anyone in the area, stop in and say hi, #0 BRG Midget (MARRS Hprod champion 2010, 2011, 2013).

Nice to hear there's some people out there preparing for the race season. I still have my motor at the machine shop. It will be a lot of long nights getting ready for my first event in May.
