Creaky clutch pedal...

Its hard to take off smoothly when my clutch pedal comes out in 5 clicky stages...


Its not one smooth action, its creaky feeling...

Is there a way to fix this,

Does anyone else have this problem?

Gosh, I've got so much work to do...
 
Hello VHM,

what car are you talking about. Asuming a hydraulic system, split the slave cylinder from the clutch mechanism and see if the clutch mechanism feels stiff or erratic. You should be able to operate the clutch with the aid of a short tube or similar.

Hi V,
As Piman suggested try to determan if the problem is in the pedal box, hydaulics or the throw out bearing assembly. The T/O bearing carrier has been the most common problem for the "sticky clutch" syndrome. This happens when the normaly smooth , gliding action of the T/B carrier binds on the front end cover during clutch engaement. This usually happens because of excessive play or uneven wear on the front cover.
The newly offered Ghunst bearing kit offered by some of the parts houses (TRF original& BPNW knock-off ) comes with a Bronze carrier & uprated bearing. Bronze is a natually lubricating metal that will give a much smoother action . When in there remember to use fine emery & gently smooth the front end cover, especially the tip. I have used this & the differance is amazing. If this turns out to be the problem I would strongly suggest this change.
