Played poker tonight and lost $15. Walked to our condo and pulled out the key. It didn't work, so I knocked and my wife let me in. I though something was weird so I examined the key. It had a remote fob attached - apparently from a Buick! My own remote and key was also in the same pocket. How the Buick fob got into my trousers I haven't a clue. I walked back to the clubhouse but the only car there was a Prius. I'll turn the Buick fob in to the office tomorrow.

It's a gift from on high.
Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?

hey Rick,

what's the story on your signature pic?
Looks like a nice little shop & great looking auto, BTW.

Thanks, Guy. The shop is Howard's Flying Dragon antique shop in Essex, MA, a nice little town on Boston's North Shore where they built sailing ships during the sail era. They regularly post topical messages in gold letters in their front window (I bet this week's is "GO PATS" ) and they were nice enough to post the "AUSTIN HEALEY" you see in the photo for a rally we ran through there last summer. Here's a short piece on the shop:

Follow up to my post. This morning, I called the guy in charge of the game. Asked him if anyone had lost their car keys. He told me "Kevin lost the keys to his Buick". Called Kevin and then met him downstairs in his Buick SUV and turned over his key fob. Seems he had someone drive him home where his wife let him in; he picked up a spare key and drove back to the club house to take his car home. That was why there was no Buick there when I walked back after discovering the key in my pocket. I still have no recollection how it got there - that's the scary part. Can I be losing it at 83? Stay tuned.

Those key fobs are a profit gouge for the auto guys.
$300.00 bucks for a replacement! & you have to go to a dealer to get them programmed.
what a racket.

I got a spare one for my wife at Subaru. Forgot the price but it wasn't that much. Works fine as a remote but when she puts the key in the door, the horn goes off like someone is trying to break in. I guess the car only recognizes my remote and regards her key as a valet key. We don't have a keyless fob. I don't believe in them.

My wife's Outback is a 2013. I supposedly "lost" my remote key and not wanting to be down to one key (and after taking the usual berating that goes with such husbandly stupidity) I went to the Subie dealer, bought a new key, brought hers with me along with the valet key that doesn't have a remote and then all three have to be reprogrammed to work together. The tech was having issues and I spent a good four hours at the dealership for this goat rope including driving the car out of the lot and discovering the first two keys didn't work anymore. I ordered a Tile key-findey thing so it would never happen again:https://www.thetileapp.com/?opt=SEM&gclid=CIfWkYnf3tECFZSEfgodQ4EH5A&gclsrc=aw.ds Two days later the key I "lost" was found by my wife in the bottom of her pocketbook. :frown-new: I'll give her credit, though, she owned up to it. I might have considered taking that bit of info to my grave or telling me she found it in the garage someplace where I probably left it.
