TR4/4A Crash Pad Question

I searched around and couldn't find the answer or pictures as they all seemed to be straight on of the dash, but does the vinyl on the crash pads only wrap around the pad itself on the ends near the door and the bottoms or does it wrap around the metal dash as well? I'm going to finish mine off this weekend and want to be sure the vinyl only wraps around the pad and I'm not to install the crash pads and then wrap the remaining around the dash bottom and sides. I know the tops get wrapped around the pad. Thanks

On my 2 TR4's I have the vinyl fitted only over the crash pad and NOT around the metal part of the dash. I have installed these on both cars and believe that I had the old ones to look at before I installed the new ones.

Gonna have to respectfully disagree with you guys. Maybe it's a wood vs. metal thing, but the original pads on my '62 absolutely, 100% wrapped around the metal of the dash in the corners. That's how I did them when I installed the new ones. From the plinth over to the corner it doesn't wrap around, but from there on it does.

So there you have it, it may work either way. One of my cars has the metal dash while the other is covered with wood.

Maybe it's a production difference, I.E. early vs late, or Tr4 vs Tr4a?

Both of my cars are close in numbers to Gary's. One is late 17000 and the other is mid 20000. The later one has the wood dash.

Crash pads do wrap around lower part of dash on the corners.
