Crapo day of layoffs at work

One heck of a day. No numbers were published but it looks like somewhere around 8% of the people at work were given involuntary, voluntary or early retirement "options" today. This is the third round in 3 years.
First it was voluntary, but I understand that there was some very heavy convincing going on in some cases. Then a performance based round. And today different people got specially tailored options... I am still in and thankful for a good review this year but still stressful.

I am glad you were not one of those who lost their jobs.

I have been laid off twice and missed the axe at least 6 times. It is indeed a stressful and unpleasant experience. It's stressful even if in the end you keep your job!

I too feel your pain. After being told the system I was responsible for was no longer required I was to stay until the replacement 'off the shelf system' was in place. Luckily for me they had so many problems with the new system it took them two years to get it working. In the mean time the 'legacy' system ran faultlessly! Luckily for me I managed to 'relocate' within the company and keep my job in the end but two years waiting for the axe to fall was no fun!
