On the way to my first car show with my TR6 the bolt that holds the fan extension and fan back out! The fan punctured the radiator and I noticed coolant spilling out my back while on the freeway going 70. I caught things right away and the car didn't overheat.

I did make it to the show with my TR8. I'll post pictures later. Over 200 british cars made it!

Ok here's more information... It looks as though I have a later style fan on my early TR6 engine This means that the later fan probably used a different bolt. One with a smaller head. In my last picture you can see that the bolt I have fits down into the fan adapter and can not be tightened. I think the mechanic who installed the fan got it as tight as he could but also added a little JB weld where the fan extention meets the pulley. So I guess my options are to buy an earlier 7 blade fan and hardwear or source a later bolt (assuming they are actually different.

I guess I just need to get my radiator recored.

Anyone have any insight that can confirm what I think is going on?

Larry, doesn't the fan extension bolt on first and the two small studs keep it from rotating. I used some red Loctite and a lot of torque. I may well have used an impact wrench.
Anyway, the fan adapter bolts to the extension afterwards. You have a latter style fan, but that shouldn't matter.
