Hey all, I have a 1977 midget with the spit engine in it and have not had it very long. After I got it running I noticed a clunking sound and eventually realized that there is no nut on the crankshaft pulley. Looked through all the parts and its not there. Moss wants 17 bucks for this. Does anyone have one of these they could part with? I know sometimes the cranks fail on these engines and there may be some spare parts out there. Thanks, Kim.

I know Hap. We have run the hills together here a couple times. I didn't know he worked the with triumph engines. All my past experience has been with the Austin A series engines, even when I was back in England in the Air Force. Minis, Minors, Midgets, etc. all had that same engine. This is new and different to me. I appreciate the help. I figured there must be a few 1500 gurus on here.

Isn't the later Spit motor the same as the Midget?

It's the other way around. The later Midget motor is a Spitfire motor. Before that Midgets ran an A-series BMC engine.

dang, how can you guys keep all that straight??
