Crane Ign

Being that my cars are TR's I am not familiar with this problem.
My bro's B has the Crane ignition and he has a problem with the RPM being to high.He installed it in the late 80's and just lived with it. He did some research on the Experience website and it seems not much you can do to rectify this?
What's your take on it

Actual engine RPM high at idle or the tach READING higher RPM, Don?

Tach reads 1500 and an external tach shows 900

Voltage stabilizer in the curcuit? If so, that may be suspect.

Is the tach a Smiths or Jager? In the Smiths units there is a pot(entiometer) you could try fettlin' with. Not sure about the Jaeger internals but I'd bet it's the same.

Thanks, keeps those cards and letters coming.
Another problem he has noticed is the electrical power goes away. It dies for just a bit of time and comes back.
The tack drops out when this happens and he knows it has lost current.

Doc, it is a Smiths
