Craftsman Industrial tool sets being sold off

I am not trying to get into a debate about US vs Chinese made tools, but I personally like to see USA on my Craftsman tools (and I'm a British transplant). Pretty much all Craftsman hand tools seem to be made in China or Taiwan now, but Sears are currently selling their US made Industrial line off - the tools are very nicely finished, but the packaging leaves a lot to be desired - they are just thrown in brown boxes. If you are near a Sears Outlet store, they have various sets available, or they are available online. If you go to www.sears.com and search for "Craftsman Professional Use" then you will see them, all at something like 70% off the original prices. A couple of example prices from things I bought from the local outlet (prices online vary a bit):

11 piece full polished wrenches, 3/8 to 1 inch, $30.89
65 piece 3/8 inch drive socket set (includes 1/4 and 3/8 ratchet, a full set of imperial and metric shallow and deep sockets up to 19mm/3/4 inch and a couple of accessories), $37.49 (currently $42.49 online)

Sad to see these tools being sold of like this - but at 70% off I have stocked up for the future, since any broken Craftsman tools now will be replaced with imports.

Oh, if you buy online, and spend over $50, the coupon code "sears2013" will give an extra $5 off.

Hope this helps someone

I've been using Craftsman for years, I hate this. The new Chinese tools, especially the wrenches, ARE lower quality. I have set of the full-polish line wrenches and they spread when you load them. I had to put vice grips across the wrench to keep it tight.

I have been buying some of the industrial stuff too, the sales prices are great. Don't buy for the warranty though, any broken tool will be replaced with china stuff.

I've still got some of the craftsman tools I bought more than 50 years ago when I got my first car (58 Hillman Minx). They have been used and abused. Most of the ratchets have been replaced at least once (for free) and the rest of the stuff is still going strong. Will people be saying that about the Chinese stuff 50 years from now?

I was just looking at some of those tools and had to chuckle at one of the notices on the page: Redeem your Rewards Points...offer ends 31 Dec 9999.
