Cracking noise in the rear end

Im getting a funny cracking noise when I take off in 1st and 2nd gear, at first I thought it might be the differential mounts but after inspection it doesn't look like thats it.

It goes away when I'm driving, so it seems as it may be an axel mount loosened up.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Do you think its drivetrain or suspension related?

U-Joints?
Differential mounting?
Differential internal?
Brakes dragging?
Trailing arm bushings?

My guess is the last one.

Well if you're getting funny cracking noises coming from your rear end and brown spatter after driving, well just maybe you're driving a little beyond your limit! LOFLMAO

Is there a definition list somewhere?

From the color and description above that sound ain't no whip.

I've heard them called a lot of things, but whip was never one of them.

In addition to what was already mentioned I would check for,

Broken motor or tranny mounts.

Check front wishbones where attached to frame for frame stress fractures or cracks.

Back to the serious issue at hand.

Didn't I read somewhere that the rear shock conversions have to be retorqued every season to insure that they are tight? It might have been on the 6-Pack or VTR forum, but I did read it in the last few months.

We have a Winner,. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/winner1.gif
After close inspection I found a hairline stress crack on the cross member under the REAR shock mount on the frame,
Seems like a easy fix, Just gotta fire up the arc welder this weekend and run a 1 1/2" bead.

Kinda makes sence it would only misalign when there was forward pressure on it.

WHEW, I'm glad it was nothing that major! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bow.gif

I'll take some pix of it when I repair it for those inquiring minds.
