We have them running in our back property all the time. When they start howling they make a heck of a racket!
 
We get them around here sometimes as well. Must have been odd to see downtown though...

They can be a bit bold at times. When I was working down at Yuma Proving Grounds in AZ, we would see them wandering around the base al the time.
 
We have those too. See them on our suburban college campus on a regular basis.
I saw a red fox cross the road yesterday near my house.
Of course, the black bears <span style="text-decoration: underline">really</span> get your attention.

Here's One across the street from our house.
 
I was "up there" in Tennessee and all I got to see was a SKUNK rummaging around in a dumpster!
