I just drove up to Colorado Springs from Albuquerque for a business meeting and drove though snow and sleet all the way. By the time I arrived at the Hotel, my car (Santa Fe) was so covered with ice I had to slam my shoulder against the door. A wall of ice had built up on the side of the car so I could not open the door!
 
We got frozen into our car like that in an ice storm in the Oklahoma panhandle in 1984. Had to stop every couple miles to clean the wipers and windshield. It was so bad, it took us all day to go 120 miles.
 
I've heard of have a door frozen shut but not while you were in the car driving! That must have been fun.
 
It's all part of survival.

For some reason, you remind me of those penguins in New Zealand. "No WAY I'm goin' back THERE. Its COLD!

Never had it happen <span style="font-style: italic">that quick</span>. My Explorer froze to the ground in Virginia a couple of times.

saw a dog frozen to a tree once :whistle:
 
The Drums on my truck use to freeze so I stopped using the emergency brake. Then I discovered that when water ran down the slight gap between the drum and backing plate, it froze in place creating in a sense a solid drum/backplate. 4 wheel low would do nothing to free this up. It was so strong it acutally cracked a chunk of steel off the edge of drum that is still missing today. The only solution for me was to get out a hair dryer and melt the .125" ice darn to free up the wheels. Strong stuff ice is.
 
WD40 was an absolute requiered in Minot ND back in the day if you did not spray it around your door seal it would just be distroyed by spring time.
I rented a mobile home one winter in Minot ND. It was so flipping cold that one morning wind was blowing crazy hard all the little paneling nails had ice sticking on them almost an inch from the wall. look really wierd.
 
years ago my dad had a DKW - possibly the only front wheel drive car in town. One cold morning one of the rear tires froze but the roads were icy enough that he didn't notice, drove to work with one rear wheel not spinning. Had a guy follow him into the parking lot for an explanation.
