At 11 seconds into the video you get a good look at the car and roll bar.

The event was held up the road about 15 miles. As you can see "Statler" was a car of many colors.

Re: Could this be "Statler"

Hard to tell for sure, but it could be. BTW, it can't be a "late '50s" race, since there is what looks to be a just about brand-new Spitfire 4 just before the end of the clip. That would make it at least 1963 (Spitfires being introduced in the US in January 1963).

Re: Could this be "Statler"

You are correct Andrew! I sent an email to the poster, unfortunately he has no information about the car and only guessed when the race took place. I know the Stockton Port SCCA Races they were held in 1962 Tam's Race Car The Spitfires make it later. Sometimes I wish I was old enough to have seen them.

Re: Could this be "Statler"

Wow, some very cool race cars on that site, Paul! They, and the YouTube clip are timely inasmuch as I had an old episode of "Run For Your Life" on in the background earlier today and occasionally caught glimpses of some very similar types of cars racing (didn't pay enough attention to really pick up the story line, but the episode was from about 1966, so right era)!

Paul,

You might want to contact Gary Horstkorta in Livermore.
He's the SF Region historian for SCCA.
I have his phone number,if you want to PM me.
