that's a $10000 restoration for a $2000 car.
uck.

and that's different from the rest of us how?

Sorry...

I just dug a car out of the mud & chicken poop Sunday :eeek:

Looks like I'm gonna be busy :hammer: again for the next 5 years

What have you got yerself into now?!?!

A La Dawri Del Mar...

TR-2 under the body...I'll apparently be visiting the dark side :eeek:

It looks kinda nice or maybe kinda ugly...I still can't figure it out.
It doesn't look like anything else.
(Europa-like...charm??? )

woof.

I posted a "factory" brochure of 'em a while back... "charm" may be a somewhat optimistic descriptor.

You mean this?

Yup. That's one of 'em.

Man, how does he find those cars? I'm still looking for a barn-find Jamacian with MGA drivetrain!

Okay, that is kinda cool in a ugly bizarre kind of way! I could see it in a 2-tone aqua/ivory combo or one of the popular 2-tone combos of the era. You SURELY won't see one of those driving down the road everyday.....and some of us might not WANT to!! LOL

I think is it still kinda cool though....

I know for CERTAIN there was at least ONE of those La Dawri cars in his area when they were new. My Old Fella and a few of his pals all sent off for that sales info at the same time, one guy ordered one. What a hoot if that's the same car! WTN lives a stone's throw from my old ancestral stompin' grounds.

I think it's a corvette-healy off spring -they were parked in the same garage and no one was looking!! I love it! Definitely consider yellow and white!

Could very well be...
Was the guy Charlie Cyphert from Volant?

If so, I regret to inform you of his passing last December.
All, or most all, of his worldly possessions were auctioned off last Sunday.

All the time I knew Charlie...He was a pretty big guy.
(Since 79 anyway)

Around 1970 he parked the La Dawri for good.
I'm guessing he couldn't get in it.

Any way...We talked cars whenever we saw each other at the local pub...
And I knew he had it.

Most of the other people who showed up for the auction were Amish.
And a friend of mine knew the auctioneer very well.
(That helps a lot if you know how auctions go.)

So...$650.00 and 4 hours of digging later...
It was moving again for the 1st time in 38 years

No, that name doesn't ring a bell. Sad in any event.

There's (or was) a guy across the river, someplace south of Ellwood. Corvette crazy. Worked in the lab at B&W (B.F.) for my Da for a while. Think his name was Tony ~something~... Either he or one of his runnin' buds... mebbe it WAS Charlie.

...sooo long ago...
