An old Indian chief sat in his hut on the reservation, smoking a Ceremonial pipe and eyeing two US government officials sent to interview him.

"Chief Two Eagles," asked one official, "You have observed the white man for 90 years. You've seen his wars and his material wealth.

You've seen his progress, and the damage he's done."

The chief nodded that it was so.

The official continued, "Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?"

The chief stared at the government officials for over a minute and then calmly replied,

"When white man found the land, Indians were running it.

No taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, women did all the work, medicine man free, Indian man spent all day hunting and fishing, all night making love."

Then the chief leaned back and smiled, "White man dumb enough to think He could improve system like that!"

Basil if you think this will bother anyone delete it, somtimes it is hard to tell anymore.

I'll let it ride, as it is pretty tame, but keep in mind how, say an Navajo Indian (like my neighbor) might view the stereotype. Just food for thought when we're posting jokes.

Thats why I thru out the option (meaning I would have understood if it was gone). Interesting side topic to this.Where I work you can still call people the most profane and vile things one could imagine and its just part of the day. However no more open disscussions on politics as this can offend people. Strang Ying Yang HUH?

I agree with all above,I think. I am born Native American on a reservation created by that old system that no longer works... not the one mentioned in the joke... the old "prejudiced anti everything of any color system". The idea that Native Americans talk like that is foolish but the joke is funny, acceptable, and unfortunately TRUE. Far too much in life can be taken as insult and much in life is taken too serious. Humor is our best action. My idea of humor is in the White House...others think the opposite...that is why we are All Americans

I think that the real comedy is the bend over backwards attempts to be "politically correct" at any cost. Along with "zero tolerance" for anything that might be even imagined as offensive. Touchy bunch aren't we?
