Correct hookup for Pertronix and Lucas Coil?

I was working on putting in a Pertronix ignition and Lucas Sport Coil on my 76B and wanted to be sure I'd hooked it up right (yes it's running...so that's a good start)

The dizzy is a fairly new 45D4, and it did have a ballast resistor. I bypassed that by directly plugging in the white wire to the positive side of the coil. There was also another wire (actually 2 b&w ones) that on the schematic that looked like they went to the tach and I hooked them up again. On the old setup though there was another wire on the + side that went to a small thumb sized blue rubber covered item that mounted next to the old coil...I did not hook this back up...but don't know what it is or if it is needed?

Replaced the plugs and wires while I was at it, and it fired right up but timing is definitely off which I'll remedy shortly!

I think the thumb-sized object you refer to is a radio static suppressor (actually a capacitor). Not really needed, even on cars with radios as far as I can tell.
Why did you bypass the ballast resisitor? (the reason I'm asking is that I wonder if you measured the ohms on your coil).

Just curious, is your tach working correctly?

I bypassed the ballast resistor as the coil specifically stated it was for non-ballasted systems and I'd read a few posts on various boards about how to bypass it...looks like the tach is working properly, although I didn't rev it that high when working on it...I'll wait for the road test

The guy working with me on it races spec Miatas and referred to the unidentified blue object as the "dim, flicker, off" switch...
