TR4/4A Corbin clamps of fuel lines Tr4a

I just ran across this and thought others might like, I an restoring my whole fuel line and tank and about to put it all back together, was shocked that the fuel lines never used any clamps, granted there really is not much pressure, but still, its fuel. I found out when I was blowing air from the fuel pump through to the back of the car where it connects at the tank, I found the line was clogged on the last section ( before the tank) because the line popped off at the rubber "connector".
I find this a bit disturbing that it could be so easy to pull the fule line apart with hands,( insert gangster movie clip here where they cut fuel line and send a match to the puddle of fuel) so I think I am going to install clamps

I thought that was what was on our fuel lines!

hmm, I think over time they have been replaced with regular clamps, at least all my tr's had regular ones or at the carbs, non at all.
I understand that they came with no clamps out of the factory, at least thats what I read somewhere.

Funny......I always thought the round spring metal radiator hose clamps (and I've seen them in fuel line, too) with one ear per side were the only "Corbin" clamps.
I even have a set of Corbin Clamp Pliers, adjustable ends and locking handle, work very good for flinging the removed clamps across the parking lot.

In business, whenever replacement fuel filters came with those little spring-steel flat clamps, they went in the circular file, and screw clamps would be installed.

Never trusted those clamps.

FWIW, the original hoses fit much tighter than the modern replacements do, so no clamp was really needed.

But since I replace all the soft lines every 10 years or so (whether they need it or not  ), I have a full set of SS worm-drive clamps installed. MMC sells them with stainless screws as well (most of them only have the band in stainless; the worm screw is chromated steel that will eventually rust).
