MGA cool site for MGBs MGAs and Midgits

I'm sorry Midgets (for those of you who are scratching your head and don't get what I'm sorry for I used am I instead of anE in Midgets, I'm still in school I'm still working my spelling skills)

I've seen quite a number of V8 conversions on MG's. The most common aftermarket conversion is to put the Rover V8 in, one guy near where I live has recently completed an MGB V8 with the Rover engine, haven't seen it yet though.

I have also seen a 327 V8 installed in an MGB up here in Ontario. It is actually a nice clean conversion - not hot rodded, but by looking at the hood you can see that it has a higher bubble. And out in Alberta I have seen a street rod style MGB, I'm not sure what it runs under the hood, but it is heavily modified.

And I know there are a lot of other different conversions out there.

There was a Chev 350 powered MGB for sale a couple of months ago here in Alberta.

I'd like to see some other kind of conversion, sort of like the 13B rotary Grassroots Motorsports put into a Spitfire.

I like the idea of the Rover V-8 better, I think.

I love 'em all, Rover, Ford all of 'em, as long as they are well engineered. the one I want to do is the Chevy v6

The 4.3 L Vortec V-6 would make a lot of sense. Its much lighter than a 350, you probably could keep the stock rear end, the fuel economy would be better, and it would go like stink.

I'm thinking of the 60 deg v6,ie, 2.8-3.4 liter. lighter, cheaper, and you can buy all the parts. More info can be found here

If I were you (just a suggestion, mind you

) I'd use the 3.4. The 2.8 suffered from several problems and doesn't make a whole lot of H.P.

A 3.4 on the other hand, with the factory gm fuel injection

would be cool.

Browsing around last night I came across some MGB V8 websites, apparently they are quite common. One website I was on said that there are likely as many as a dozen V8 engined MGB's in the province of Ontario, and likely many more across North America. The Canadian register also lists guys who have put V6's into their cars as well.

Anyway, here goes... Enjoy...

- nice article here under "newsletter" about the whole process of converting his MGB over to a MGB with a Rover V8

Oops!

The second link posted above seems to be a non-existent link now (maybe they moved to a new website??)

And the third link as such doesn't exist, and is under construction. However there is a neat picture of an MG RV8 (the one from the early-90's) as a coupe - did they ever make that? Or this a conversion?

Anyway, I was definitely on the first link last night, and he has an extensive links section.

I haven't done a v6 yet Gary. I WAS doing body work, and then....
