Convertible top

I've asked this question before, but didn't really get a clear reply... are any of the spitfire convertible top frames interchangeable with the top from a 1970 mk3, can I use the frame from another model year or make on my car? I'm having no luck at all in finding a 1970 mk3 frame old or new. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No reason I know of why you couldn't use an earlier Spitfire Mk3 top frame. Not the very earliest ones (usually, if original, in "sandalwood beige" color), because they'll have the older "over-center" latches on the header rail. All the Mk3 top fabrics are shaped the same; what makes the 1970 top and frame unique is the zip-out window.

Someday I'll sit down and compare a '69 and '70 top frame I have. Unfortunately, I'll be needing the '70 top frame for a little project my son and I are starting....
