Borrowing heavily from folks more informed than I, I put together a pdf file that combines narrative with images showing how to disassemble/assemble the turn signal unit. Hope it proves helpful. As I indicated previously, thanks particularly to Norman Nock, Steve Byers, Michael Salter, Tracy Drummond, John Trifari and others unnamed!

To view and download the file go to:
https://homepage.mac.com/linwoodrose/
Once there you should click on: iDisk Public Folder (Graphite),
then click the download arrow to the right of "trafficator compressed.pdf"

Send me a note if you get there!!

Hi Lin,

I got there! Nice job on the trafficator rebuilt pdf. I'm sure this will be a popular download!

Cheers,
John

I got there!!! Excellent job!!! I am now looking forward to the rebuild. Not Actually. How long did it take you to put the article together?

The article took 5-6 hours. The rebuild about 2 counting polishing the bakelite.

Lin- very nicely done, even a klutz like me should be able to do that. I am assuming that the unit on my SP250 is the same, since it looks just like yours and most of the car parts were "borrowed" from other makes. THANKS!

Re: Control head "Trafficator" Rebuild - Updated

For any one who is interested, I have made a few additions to the piece I did on the trafficator repair. There is a reference to an article done by Neil Trelenberg https://www.healeys.ca/s_10.asp that has some very useful tips and a small section has been added based on suggestions by Roger Moment. If you have a working trafficator and just want to change out a steering wheel it might be particularly helpful.

The revised article in compressed pdf form may be found at:

Lin - again, what you have put together is fantastic!!!! I have seen many articles written over my 30 years of healeyism and yours is NUMBER 1, in my book. Keep up the good work!!!

Re: Control head "Trafficator" Rebuild - Updated

Have you ever seen an article on what wears in the mechanism to prevent cancelling? All my parts look good visually, yet cancelling is 50% in one direction and 10% the other.
