TR2/3/3A Continually Rebuilding of my J Type Gear Box

Couple of questions. What pilot bushing do I use when I mount this on my TR3A engine? The input shaft is shorter and thicker which leads me to the shaft cover AKA "candle stick". Which one do I use? The one on the TR3 is 3 1/2" the one off the J type is about 4". I am using the TR3 clutch, through out bearing and flywheel.
Also someone a while back suggested that I check out Motion Industries for bearings. They were very expensive. Main bearings were $92 each + S&H.

I think you may have gotten the front covers mixed up. TR3A should have the longer one. Anyway, I'd use the longer one since you are using the TR3 clutch. The cover was shortened later on because some of the diaphragm type clutches would hit the cover otherwise. (Only when released, though, which made some interesting noises)

Should be able to use the standard TR3 pilot bearing. The TR6 shaft doesn't go as far into the bearing, but that doesn't seem to cause any problem.

Actually my TR3 tranny is still in the garage and went out and measured it and it was 31/2 ". One in the pic is from the J type and the other is from a 4A. I'm now a little confused as which is which.
