MGB Console tunnel - 1977 - 1980 MGB

I am doing some work on the B and my console tunnel seems to be a bit warped at the front edge. This is strictly a cosmetic issue, but I would like to either straighten it out or replace it. Does anyone know if heating with a hairdryer might work on the plastic? If not, does anyone out there have one for sale?

Cheers,
Mike

You might try a heat gun, I don't think a hair dryer is going to do it. Remember if you try it, take it slow. Wouldn't want warp it any more than it is.

Yes there is nothing more bizarre than a guy wielding a hair dryer in the driveway with Miss B...almost sounds perverted...........Heat gun it may well be..

I probably have a couple of used ones if the hair dryer doesn't work.

Usually the safest way is hot water. Boil some water in a big pot or or pan. Soak the item in it for a period of time, your guess is as good as mine for time, depends on the thickness and chemical makeup of the material, and the plastic should become flexible enough to move back into the proper position. A heat gun will work, naturally, but boiling water is a little safer and softens the whole item, not just a concentrated area.

Tony, just in case the above suggestions don't work out, please PM me the cost of one of your pieces. Thanks. I have always been happy with your stuff. Good prices and quick shipment.
Cheers,
Mike
